Solid glucose biosensor integrated in a multi-well microplate coupled to a camera-based detector: Application to the multiple analysis of human serum…

2018

Abstract In the present work, a biosensor adapted in a 96-well microplate has been coupled with a smartphone-based photometer in order to develop a low-cost colorimetric multi-sample dispositive. The strength of this biosensing system is based on the integration of the biosensor into the 96-well microplate and the use of a smartphone and free image analysis software as a microplate reader. The performance of the proposed biosensor has been demonstrated to determine glucose in several human serum samples. This method is simple, cost-effective, sensitive and selective for the determination of glucose in serum, with detection limits of 1.8 mg/dL and a good linearity over the range 6–88 mg/dL. …

Structural Determinants for the Mode of Action of Imidazopyridine DS2 at δ-Containing γ-Aminobutyric Acid Type A Receptors

2021

Despite the therapeutic relevance of δ-containing γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptors (GABAARs) and the need for δ-selective compounds, the structural determinants for the mode and molecular site of action of δ-selective positive allosteric modulator imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine DS2 remain elusive. To guide the quest for insight, we synthesized a series of DS2 analogues guided by a structural receptor model. Using a fluorescence-based fluorometric imaging plate reader membrane potential assay, we found that the δ-selectivity and the pharmacological profile are severely affected by substituents in the 5-position of the imidazopyridine core scaffold. Interestingly, the 5-methyl, 5-bromo, and 5-chl…

Cytotoxicity of a new hemostatic agent on human pulp fibroblasts in vitro

2011

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxicity of the plant extract ankaferd blood stopper (ABS) in vitro. Study Design: ABS was eluted with fresh Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium (DMEM) without serum for 72 h, at 37°C. The cells treated with various dilutions of ABS were seeded into 96-well microplate at 10 4 /well in triplicates. Cells without treatment served as a control group. The number of viable cells after 48 h incubation was determined by a modified 3-(4, 5-dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The relative viability of pulp cells was expressed as color intensity of the number in the experimental wells relative to that of t…
